Adding eBay Listings to your WordPress Posts
If you are running a niche website, the most successful affiliate program that I have found is still the eBay affiliate program. Despite the changes that it has gone through over the last few years, it still remains my top money maker – topping amazon and commission junction easily, and still topping adsense in most months, although my adsense earnings are starting to close the gap.
I became aware of the ebay partner network (EPN), back when they were still affiliated with commission junction (early 2008 I think). I made my first attempt at affiliate marketing when I purchased the Build a Niche Store (BANS) software and dove head first into making niche websites. BANS was (and still is) a great scripting software. Allowing you to easily create stores to promote ebay products and earn good commissions. I would not recommend anyone buying BANS nowadays, as support has stopped on the product, so with any change by ebay, BANS could stop working.
I still have quite a few BANS sites up and running and making money, but when I make a new site today I use one of two new tools to get the job done. The title of this post is “Adding eBay Listings to your WordPress Posts“, so I’m going to discuss PHPBay (and I’ll save Niche Site Platform for another post).
PHPBay makes it so simple to add ebay listings to any post or page. If you are familiar at all with wordpress (and if you are a blogger, you are probably pretty familiar with wordpress or on your way to learning) – it’s as simple as installing a plugin and then inserting 1 line of code into your post or page. The plugin has an easy to use admin page that allows you to enter your ebay affiliate ID and setup some other display settings. When you are ready to insert ebay items into your post, all you need to know is the ebay category and your keywords. PHPBay does the rest of the work from there by automatically displaying the ebay items in your post with your ebay affiliate ID automatically inserted.
Now getting accepted into the EPN is a whole different topic. If you have an established site, you shouldn’t have too much trouble. If you are just starting your website, take a look at this article for some tips.
