Income Report August 2011
At the start of each new month I try to break down my monthly income results for the previous month – including all affiliate results and Adsense income, as well as any other news from the previous month or highlights of upcoming events and opportunities. Each month these continue to be my most popular posts. You can view all of my past income reports here.
Sorry for the long delay, but the August 2011 income report is finally here. Between labor day weekend, running another Warrior Dash, and the start of football season – I haven’t had much time to sit down and write this up.
As I mentioned in a previous post, August got off to a great start. My EPN numbers made a significant swing in the positive direction and my Adsense revenue stayed pretty consistent with the previous month.
I also launched a new website and I’ve begun work on a few other related affiliate websites. Overall it was a very successful month and one of my best months ever in terms of online earnings.
With all that said, here are my online earnings for August 2011:
| July Income | August Income | Difference | |
| EPN | $176.62 | $628.15 | $451.53 |
| Adsense | $893.01 | $865.68 | ($27.33) |
| Commission Junction | $32.61 | $27.78 | $4.83 |
| Amazon | $0.00 | $24.37 | $24.37 |
| Clickbank | $0.00 | $0.00 | $0.00 |
| Niche Site Platform | $0.00 | $0.00 | $0.00 |
| PHPBay | $0.00 | $0.00 | $0.00 |
| HometownQuotes Affiliate | $6.50 | $0.00 | ($6.50) |
| Shareasale.com | $0.00 | $0.00 | $0.00 |
| TOTAL | $1,108.74 | $1,545.98 | $437.24 |
As you can see, the majority of the difference from the previous month came from the jump in EPN income. I think that can be attributed to a combination July being a really bad month and August being a really good month. Sometimes you just get lucky with EPN. Sell a car or some other high priced item and your EPC will shoot up for a week or so, which can lead to some really nice passive income days.
I’ve actually removed the Web Design category from my income numbers. Although I have actually increased my side website work over the past 2 months, I don’t really see that as passive online income, so I’ve decide to stop including it in my monthly reports. (I’m tempted to remove some of the other affiliate programs from the list as well until I actually start making some sales …)
As for future work, I think I’m going to design some more sites along the same line of my new EverydayGearDeals.com site – but in different niches. Hopefully I can have them done in the next couple of weeks and start cashing in on some Christmas shopping traffic.
That’s all for now. Please leave comments below if you have questions or feedback.

Hey Mike! Income is looking great! Is the adsense income all from your niche sites? What strategies do you think have contributed most to those earnings?
Keep up the great work!
Yes adsense is all from niche sites. In fact the majority is from one site in particular.
If you look back at my adsense earning in Jan and Feb – they were about half of what they are now. I’d say the majority of the increase is from one site…. I wish it were more spread out, but so far one site has dominated google.
EPN always seems to fluctuate from month to month, so I’d like to get at least one more steady earning adsense site and also increase my other affiliate income to help balance things a bit more.
If my one big niche site were to take a dive right now, I’d be screwed.
That’s a great increase with EPN. I applied for it at the weekend and am waiting to hear back if I’ve been accepted.
Looks like it could be another useful revenue stream for me.
Well done!
Good luck! I know they are a lot tougher on letting in new affiliates as they had been 3 or 4 years ago.. They also don’t pay out quite as well as they used to.
But if you pick the right niche and get steady traffic, it can still be a big money maker. The cookies last for like 14 or 30 days (i can’t remember) – which helps a lot compared to other affiliate programs… Not to mention the almost endless possibilities when it comes to niche selection. People sell everything on ebay.
Mike,
Any tips for maximizing adsense for a site thats getting a decent amount of traffic? I think one of my sites is under performing in this area although its not necessarily a niche site.
