Income Report October 2011
At the start of each new month I try to break down my monthly income results for the previous month – including all affiliate results and Adsense income, as well as any other news from the previous month or highlights of upcoming events and opportunities. Each month these continue to be my most popular posts. You can view all of my past income reports here.
Well every month seems to be a roller coaster. Just when I start to think that things are on the up and up, something (google) slaps me – and knocks me back down a bit. If you follow me on twitter, I mentioned a few days ago that I had some good and bad news in this month’s income report. Let’s first take a look at the numbers and then I can discuss things in a bit more detail.
| September Income | October Income | Difference | |
| EPN | $493.70 | $310.29 | ($183.41) |
| Adsense | $753.23 | $657.38 | ($95.85) |
| Commission Junction | $60.16 | $14.34 | ($45.82) |
| Amazon | $32.83 | $3.17 | ($29.66) |
| Clickbank | $17.95 | $17.95 | $0.00 |
| Niche Site Platform | $39.50 | $0.00 | ($39.50) |
| AvantLink.com | $36.92 | $59.59 | $19.67 |
| TOTAL | $1,434.29 | $1,062.72 | ($371.57) |
The Bad News
I’ll start with the bad news. My adsense cash cow aka my “tire site” took a hit right about the middle of the month. My adsense numbers were moving right along nicely at the start of the month… until Oct 14th. I’m not sure what happened but it seems that I dropped out of the #1 and #2 spots for some of my keywords, and it put a dent in my visitors and thus my adsense earnings. You can see the hit that I took in Google Analytics below.

Was it another google update? Or did someone just outrank me? Who knows… I’ll just have to try to throw some more backlinks at my site and see if I can give it another boost.
The other bad news is that I was pretty much down across the board for the most part. Nothing major. I guess that can happen when compared to my previous 2 months which were 2 of my best months ever. There are bound to be a few bumps in the road. I was just hoping to be getting closer to $2000 a month, rather than regressing almost back to sub $1000.
The Good News
My Avantlink numbers increased once again, and if it weren’t for one returned item, they’ve be well over $100. My 3 sites that I’ve centered around the Avantlink affiliate program are performing rather well for being so new (if you follow me on twitter, I’ve mentioned each site a few times). Hopefully with some backlink building I can give them each a boost.
And finally, I’ve not forgotten about my niche duel site. I quietly revealed the site today on twitter, but I do plan on doing a part 3 blog post about it soon. I finally started making some progress in google, which equaled some adsense money last month, so I figured I can finally blog about where it stands. (It earned $21.25 in October if you were curious.)
That wraps it up for October. How was your month?

actually down – but hopefully back UP this month…
Nearly everyone I know with niche sites has taken a big knock in October from Google, but have also seen inferior sites with scraped content move above them in the rankings.
I’m not sure what’s going on but it’s making it harder to have a ‘regular’ income from visitors and AdSense when this is the case.
Will the sites stay at that level or will Google have another playaround? At this moment is hard to make a regular income from the sites.
Onto your report, $1000 isn’t to be sniffed at and I think you’ll see your avantlink sites contribute a lot more next month.
Good Luck
