Welcome to the blog…
I started this blog to tell you a bit about myself and let you follow me on my journey… wherever that may lead. I’m Mike Martin – originally from Ohio, living in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
I’m a 30 something year old software developer and internet geek. I love to play sports, ski, and as you can see by the picture – an aspiring surfer. As soon as I can make enough passive income from this internet marketing thing, I am moving across the country to Cali, to work on my surf skills.
My “Making Money Online” Story
My first attempts at making money online date back to the late 90′s, while still in college. I played around with making a few adult websites. I tried all the “get paid to surf the internet” programs. I messed around with some mlm (multi level marketing) crap. All in all, I probably earned enough money to pay for a few keg parties 
Fast forward to 2008. Between 2000 – 2008 I didn’t really do anything to advance my internet marketing skills (unfortunately). In early 2008 I found out about the Ebay affiliate program and I began creating small websites that would earn a few hundred dollars a month. My best month ever came in Nov 2008 when a niche website that sold Obama campaign posters earned me $1,600 for the month. I was stoked. But after that month, things began to decline to the point that I was only making about $100 a month for quite some time.
After a really surprisingly good month in Dec 2010, I decided to get back into the game more aggressively. Starting in Jan 2011 I began updating and promoting some of my older niche sites and creating new ones. I currently do fairly well with affiliate marketing through eBay, Amazon, and Google Adsense with several of my websites (check out my income reports for proof). I work by day as a software developer, and I work on my websites in the evening, along with some small web design projects on the side for some extra cash.
About This Blog
I’ve tried the internet marketing blog thing once in the past. It lasted about a month before I decide I was bored with it. I stopped posting and eventually the domain expired.
With my recent online successes, I’ve decided to give blogging another shot. I love to be creative online and I love the fact that I can earn money via my websites 24 hours a day. The point of this blog is to talk about how I make money and hopefully teach and/or inspire others to give it a shot. I’m all about making new friends online and networking with other bloggers, so leave comments and questions and I will try my best to answer every one of them.
This is not a get rich quick scheme. You really can make money from the comfort of your own home – but it takes a lot of up front time and effort. Most of the things I will talk about on this website have already be done by many other people and the information is all out there, readily available for free. My objective is to help summarize the things that I think are important and explain the things that have worked for me. Hopefully I can share some wisdom that I have acquired along the way in my internet journeys and hopefully help you get started on your way to making money.
